A Boat in Every Driveway

I never really learned how to drive a boat. Wasn’t an essential skill for a kid growing up in Calgary. Walk along any shore road in Newfoundland however and one gets the impression kids growing up there aren’t lacking that skill. To the right is a car and home, to the left is a boat.

This image was taken on a leisurely walk up the road for dinner. Unlike most outings on the trip, this easy walk had no expectations for photography. No backpack full of gear, no two camera bodies to lug around, no postcard image in the back of my mind. It’s one of my favorite images from the trip and one of the best moments.
