Neddies Harbour

It’s been a long time since I’ve had a real vacation. Something I’m sure was becoming obvious to the people around me.  I work hard and invest a lot in what I do. Without some personal time, this can really start to take a toll mentally and physically.

Enter an opportunity to spend some extended time in Newfoundland. I have lived more than 10 years in Halifax but have never visited the rock despite the urging of many friends. What a mistake! Even before stepping off the plane in Deer Lake the view from the window blew my mind!  Newfoundland is a huge place and is too large to explore meaningfully in a couple of weeks. So I decided to focus my efforts on Western Newfoundland and Gros Morne National Park. If the rest of Newfoundland is half as nice as the places I visited, I’ll be going back again and again.

Base camp was Neddies Harbour at the tip of Norris Point. A perfect spot right in the center of Gros Morne. I was lucky enough to be joined by my good friend and fellow photographer JB. A great photographer and traveling partner!

The image above was was taken only minutes after we arrived in Neddies Harbour.  The light was perfect and I was itching to start shooting. More to come!
