Exuberance

I was reading back through an earlier post on Conrads and Lawrencetown beaches. In a way, that post had to do with discovery. Discovery in my own backyard.

There is no question that area is a favorite of mine. I think it’s a favorite, not because of the images I have already made there, but because I don’t think I’ve yet found ‘the’ image that captures what I feel when I’m there. Long story short, reviewing that post and remembering earlier visits inspired me tonight to re-review some earlier shots.  The above is one I found. Discovered perhaps. Very strange how a different perspective can yield a different result.

The above is closer to the feel of this place than any sunset or carefully constructed photograph.

I’m old enough that most days I don’t wake up with the same exuberance as these kids running on the beach (though I still try every day). But when i’m hanging out on that beach, either alone or surrounded by people, I feel energized. Younger. Happier. In this setting, it’s just as likely to be me running on the sand bar as them.
