Michaud Point Beach

My first ever blog post from the road! Is technology great or what?

Spent the day shooting with JB in St. Peter’s, Cape Breton. I have to admit I wasn’t into it at first. Cold and windy and every indication it was going to rain didn’t really inspire me to get up and out. Things changed though with the first rays of sun that broke through the clouds. It didn’t happen often, but when it did the light was amazing.

The original plan was to head to the beach to shoot the sand and surf and catch the sunset over the water.  As it turned out for me though, inspiration came from everything but the sand and water. The image above is shot with my back to the water.  Shafts of light would peak through the clouds and put the most incredible light on the grasses. Every time the light would come I would run for these grasses before it disappeared.

Great day all in all, though most any day spent in Cape Breton is a good day.

PS. Just found out this is also a big surf beach.  If you want to catch some waves check out the surf report here.
